(A rash guard is a nylon-type shirt that you wear to protect you from the sun and to keep you from getting board rashes.)

The story begins on a Surf Sol Sister retreat back in 2007. The beautiful Black Hibiscus Rash Guard (BHRG) was given to me by a retreat participant, Tracy. I have since worn it many times here in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico as it has become my favorite rashguard to protect me from the sun.

On this trip it has been on many surf outings but the one I will talk about today is our trip to a secret surf spot out on the “east cape”. We began our morning at 5am and were in the water just as the sun was coming up 6:15am or so. We were the only ones paddling out. Such a beautiful sunrise and morning. After our surf session we had (everything is organic, of course!):

1) fresh fruit smoothies: carrot juice, water, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, fresh pineapple, ground flax seed, whey protein powder and ice (it’s hot here!)

2) left over homemade hummus (with brown rice crackers): garbanzo beans, sesame tahini, fresh lime juice, sea salt, garlic, olive oil and mango jam.

It was delicious and kept our energy up for another surf session at Acapulquito at 10am. Try either of these delicious recipes yourself – experiment and enjoy! You will sleep well tonight. BHRG
